Violeta Lyskoit

Hello! Today I am doing another review on one of the Born Pretty Store beauty products, this time it's their Charming Long Lasting Matte Lipstick (link here) in shade #18. If you are not already familiar, Born Pretty Store is an online store based in China, which offers totally affordable and usually discounted products like clothing, jewelry, accessories, makeup, nail care stuff and etc. and also ships worldwide for free with no minimum orders. Now, back to the review!
The first thing that you notice is the packaging. Lipstick comes in a hot pink color box with an additional cardboard cover over it. I actually really like the design, because it's quite different, but still very simple. The plastic is really great quality, shiny and has some weight, which feels really sturdy in the hands. Another great thing is that it clasps really easily, but securely.
The consistency is really creamy, lipstick applies very easy and smooth, has the matte finish. The color is surprisingly very pigmented. As I mentioned before, I got shade #18, which in the picture looked like a nudish pink. but I would describe the color as a saturated color of your own lips. It's a very wearable shade, which looks really natural and is not too vibrant. You can see some swatches I made down bellow!
When I wear this lipstick I either forget that I have something on my lips or I feel like I have some kind of lip balm, because it's so smooth and not drying at all, which is really rare for matte lipsticks! Talking about how long lasting it is, it stayed vibrant on my lips for about 2 hours and when it started fading away, but it faded in a really natural and neat way and I actually did like the a bit faded look. It faded away completely after about 6 hours.
Overall, I am really happy with this product so far, it's a very great lipstick for its price. What impressed me the most was quality of the packaging and a very comfortable and enjoyable feeling of the product on my lips. I haven't seen any reviews on this lipstick yet, but it works great for me:) I am really looking forward to trying out more shades of this lipstick!

I want to say a big thank you to Joy from Born Pretty Store for sending me this to try out!
If you want to get it for yourself (link here) or if you want any other other product from this website (and they have a ton of stuff to choose from, e.g. fake eyelashes, lipsticks, blushes, concealers, eyeliners, eye shadows and etc.) make sure to use my discount code VIOH10 for 10% off at the checkout!

Jenny Downham "Before I die"
I will insert here a very beautifully written extract from www.thebookbag.co.uk, which I loved to pieces and really wanted to share with you as it reflects my own outlook, but I just cannot put my words like the author of the review did: "Tessa is just 16 years old. And she has just a few months to live. After four long years of treatment for leukaemia, she's finally reached the end of the road. Her illness is now terminal. All the doctors can do is maintain her as best they can and wait for the inevitable crisis. Tessa's father, who has given up work to take care of her, is busy trying to support Tessa's palliative care by researching diets and holistic therapies on the internet. He won't give up hope. Tessa though, with the shocking matter-of-factness of the young, has accepted that she is going to die soon. What Tessa hasn't accepted though, is that she must die in any way incomplete. So she makes a to-do list, full of everything she wants to experience before the dying of the light. And the first thing on it is casual sex. And honestly, that's all I'm going to tell you. Before I Die should be read, not described. You already know what happens - Tessa dies. Tessa dies before she is old enough even to vote. This isn't a book in which a plucky heroine is snatched from the jaws of death at the last moment, or a book which tactfully draws the curtain before the end of the last act. This is the story of the last months in a young girl's too-short life and Tessa sets out her stall on the very first page. It's a journey you need to share with her, not steal, vicariously, from any review." You can read full review on this book here.
It was sitting on my nightstand half-read for almost 8 months. And it was my biggest mistake. If you ever decide to read this book, please read it straight away. At first, when I started reading this I really did not like it, I thought it will be another stupid teenage drama about sex, drugs, alcohol and etc. And in my opinion first part of this book was a little bit lame and cheap and I am almost sure that was the reason why after a couple of chapters I put it away for later. Second part of the book that I read only after the New Year was a completely opposite experience. I felt like writing of the book has changed. It was more mature and profound. The quotes became deeper and more challenging to understand. Somehow I felt like while I was reading it I was growing with this book as a personality. The ending of the book, as expected, was tragic and shocking. I did not cry, which was strange, but that's maybe because I already pre reconciled with inevitable while I was reading the book. Anyways,  this book did not leave my mind for a couple of days, it still crosses my mind sometimes, it made me think about the true meaning of life, how important it is to live your life to the fullest and just enjoy living and celebrate every day that's is given to you, because you never now when it's your last one.
And I could not believe it, but there is a movie based on this novel! Thank you again www.thebookbag.co.uk for the information! It is called "Now is Good" and now I am so excited to see it and compare it to the book!

Favorite quotes:
“Every seven years our bodies change, every cell. Every seven years, we disappear.”
•
“Cal says that humans are made from the nuclear ash of dead stars. He says that when I die, I'll return to dust, glitter, rain. If thats true, I want to be buried right here under this tree. Its roots will reach into the soft mess of my body and suck me dry. I'll be re-formed as apple blossom. I'll drift down in the spring like confetti and cling to my family's shoes. They'll carry me in their pockets to help them sleep. What dreams will they have then?”

Sarah Dessen "Along for the ride"
"It’s been so long since Auden slept at night. Ever since her parents’ divorce - or since the fighting started. Now she has the chance to spend a carefree summer with her dad and his new family in the charming beach town where they live. A job in a clothes boutique introduces Auden to the world of girls: their talk, their friendship, their crushes. She missed out on all that, too busy being the perfect daughter to her demanding mother. Then she meets Eli, an intriguing loner and a fellow insomniac who becomes her guide to the nocturnal world of the town. Together they embark on parallel quests: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she’s been denied; for Eli, to come to terms with the guilt he feels for the death of a friend. In her signature pitch-perfect style, Sarah Dessen explores the hearts of two lonely people learning to connect."
I liked this book. I would say that it is a light young adult read. It does not teach much just reminds how important it is to enjoy your teenage years, because otherwise you will regret it in the future. It's quite an extraordinary love story, circumstances the way characters meet, the time they act, communicate, I find the plot of this book quite unique. Reading this book was not life changing experience, but still, as I mentioned, I enjoyed reading it.

Favorite quotes:
“An ending was an ending. No matter how many pages of sentences and paragraphs of great stories led up to it, it would always have the last word.”
•
“It was so risky and so scary, and yet at the same time, so beautiful. Maybe the truth was, it shouldn't be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It's the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth.”
•
“Life is full of screwups. You're supposed to fail sometimes. It's a required part of the human existence.”

I know that this was a very long post, but I still hope you enjoyed it! I really tried very hard to use appropriate words to express my honest opinion and I really hope that I succeeded. If you guys have read any of these books or decided to read them please let me know!!

Hello! In this blog post I will introduce you some new products that will join my makeup collection.
First and most exciting (and expensive) thing for me is Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Stay-Matte Hydrator. I am very positively disposed towards Clinique's brand because I love their anti-blemish gel (review here). Sadly, as this brand is high-end, I cannot treat myself to try many products from them. I read a lot of reviews about this product before buying it and one day I finally decided to purchase it and invest in my facial skin. I have already started using it and I plan on doing a proper review on this product one day as this might be a life saver for many people with very oily skin as mine.
Next is MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. I feel like MAC is that kind of brand, that you will never go wrong with. I was looking for a powder that would give me a matte finish and would stay all day and I was recommended particularly this product. I put high hopes on this one!
Essence Long lasting Nude Lipstick in Porcelain Doll (02). I just saw it in the store, it was reasonably priced, newly released and I thought that it is the right time to start using lipsticks and, in my opinion, nude lipstick is the best one to start with.
L'oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper. I got one in transparent (05), because I felt like none of the colors would suit my cool toned eyebrows. I saw it in one of Chanelette's vlogs and she said how she loves it and I trust her taste so I wanted to try it out.
Ecotools Custom Coverage Buffing Brush. Lately I have been loving to apply my liquid foundation/BB cream with buffing brush and so far I have been using Real Technique's Core Collection Buffing Brush and I thought that I need to own a second one so I could change them between washes so I got the Ecotools one to try out.
And lastly, L'oreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture. My mom actually gave it to me, because she only uses waterproof ones. This is actually quite embarrassing to admit, but up to now I only owned one mascara and I think it's 3 or 4 years old now. I was never a fan of mascara, but I have been using it so much lately and now I am addicted! I would love you to recommend me any good mascaras to try out because I have 0 experience when it comes to choosing mascara ha ha!

I really hope you enjoyed reading this! Have a nice day/night!

Hello! Today I am doing a review on Born Pretty Store Shimmer Silver Gel Eyeliner (link here). First of all, Born Pretty Store is an online store based in China, which offers totally affordable and usually discounted products like clothing, jewelry, accessories, makeup, nail care stuff and etc. and also ships worldwide for free with no minimum orders. Now, back to the review.
I think the first thing that you have noticed is the Calvin Klein logo, but obviously it's not authentic, I actually checked out Calvin Klein's website and looked for the gel eyeliner and did not find any similar product. Anyways, the packaging is very nicely made, the box is shinny, luxurious looking and gives additional information like ingredients, the quantity (5.5g 0.17 OZ). In short, from the packaging I would never say that this is not an authentic product. When you open it, you can see a shiny geometrical lid, which looks so unique and chic, with a CK logo. Sadly, mine was a little bit scratched. Also, you get a tiny brush, which is sufficiently good quality and size, but a little bit too bulky for applying eyeliner.
The product itself is nicely pigmented, but I would say that is better to use it as an eye shadow itself, because it's quite sheer to be used as an eyeliner. When I tried to draw a line (with a given brush) just above my upper lash line or a swatch it on my hand it was quite tricky as it was definitely not enough to take only one dip of  the product to create a rich and pigmented line. I also tried applying it with a pointy eyeliner tip, which I had and I feel like it did a better job because it was more precise. And I forgot to mention that this product is very creamy and easy to blend, which is not really good for eyeliner, because it can smudge easily, but great for eye shadow. Overall, I would say that this is a multi-functional product: you can use it as an eye shadow on its own, as a highlighter (especially for inner corners), body glitter and of course as a gel eyeliner, but you will definitely need to build it up to make it look bold.

I want to say a big thank you to Joy from Born Pretty Store for sending me this to try out!

DOWNLOAD:
Jacked Up Kinda Luv | Hello Fall
Autumn Chant | Sweet Pea
Laser Metal | Xiomara

I don't know whether you are familiar with that these fonts are for, but if you are not, then I can tell you a bit about the purpose of these and how to use them.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
What are these fonts for?
I use custom fonts to spice up my blog pictures and add some flair (e.g. here, here, here). Many youtubers use these for their video thumbnails.

How to download?
You go to any free fonts webpage (just type "free fonts" in a google search bar), in this situation, I have chosen fonts from www.dafont.com so you just need to click on a font name, e.g. "Xiomara" under "Download" and when a new window pops out, click the "Download" button on the right side of the page and your download will be started!

How to install?
When it's downloaded, you need to extract the zip file, then open it and click on the ttf file and when the table pops up just click the install button. That's all!

Where to find your new fonts?
I noticed that my custom fonts show on Picmonkey, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Power Point so far. If you want to see your new fonts, first you need to restart all the programs that are running, e.g. Microsoft Word, Google Chrome, in order for fonts to show up.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
By the way, if you haven't seen already I have done a 8 free fonts to spice up your blog where you can check out even more of my beloved fonts!

I hope you liked this kind of "Blogging tips" post and found it helpful! I am planning on doing more of these in the future!
♡
Tell me what's your favorite site to download fonts from!
